Construction Inspection Robot

Can robots help automate the task of inspection and data collection of construction activities?

Robots have the potential to automate the task of inspecting and ensuring time bound completion of construction. Inspecting construction can be a difficult task as sites have difficult terrain to navigate, high risk factor, they are dusty and lack manpower. As robots are immune to these conditions, they can be deployed to aid in this task of routinely inspecting and collecting data of level of completion. Robots can inform construction managers with data from on site activities that can help them take cognisance and act better.

Societal Impact

  1. Lead to improved construction standards and better construction management.
  2. Humans won’t be needed to do a task that poses a health risk.
  3. Will automate routine tasks for construction companies.
  4. Will reduce the cost of construction inspection.
